 TOURIST PLACES

Bikaner

The northern-most point on the Triangle of Desert cities. Bikaner is the 15th century royal walled city. On the outskirts of the city, the Camel farm makes an interesting visit, particularly at sunset when herds of camels return from the dunes. Also worth visiting are the Lalbagh palace to see the Red Sandstone carvings and the hall of Audience with break tracking frescos gilded stucco mouldings, floral patterns and crafts of incredibility delicate patterns.

Bombay

The capital city of the Maharashtra is the commercial capital of the country. It is the busiest metropolis in India and has an intriguing mixture of extremes. Richness and poverty, traditions and modernity, urban and suburban.

Bhubneshwar

Capital of Orissa and home of several thousand temples, Bhubaneshwar presents a panorama of Orissa's art and history from the 3rd c. BC to the 16th c. AD. The sculpture on many of these temples is breathtaking in its purity.

Bodhgaya

This is one of the most holy places for Buddhists as the Buddha attained Nirvana under the Bodhi tree in this small and peaceful place. Though the original Bodhi tree here has been destroyed, the present tree is the direct descendent of the original tree under which Buddha sat, meditated and achieved enlightenment

Bhuj

Bhuj is the major town of Kuchch district in Gujarat. It is an old, walled city, and until recently the city gates were locked each night from dawn to dusk. It can be called the Jaisalmer of Gujarat, a walled city surrounding a lake and enclosing a lively and colourful bazaar.

Bijapur

The whispering corridors of Gol Gumbaz which amplify a sound many times over and the medeival gun Malik-e-Maidan that requires 500 elephants to move it are echoes of the Adil Shahi dynasty which ruled here
