 Madras  


The gateway to the sunny south, the capital of Tamilnadu is also the seat of ancient civilisation with a rich heritage of fine arts, sculptures and architecture. Sightseeing of Madras includes the National Art Gallery and Museum, Fort st. George, the Fort Museum, St. Mary's church. A drive along the Marina Beach. Visit to the San Thome Cathedral and Mylapore temple .
 Mysore

Mysore is a city of palaces, gardens, and oriental splendour. By far the most impressive is the Maharajah's palace, a massive edifice where the Oriental decorative imagination runs wild. The palace, one of the biggest of its kind in India, accomplishes a sort of synthesis of Hindu and Muslim styles. But then everything seems palatial in Mysore, even if its only the Railway Office. A short distance outside the city is a sparkling white, dignified edifice, the Lalitha Mahal, now converted into a hotel.

Mahabalipuram

Also known as the second pagodas, Mahabalipuram is a pleasant seaside resort. The principal attraction for the tourist lies in the wonderful Monolithic monuments and stone sculptures. The important monuments are the five Raths, the bas-relief on a huge rock popularly known as Arjuna's penance.

 Madurai

One of the most ancient cities in India dating back to the 6th century BC, it is renowned for the Meenakshi Temple. A seat of Tamil learning and Tamil Sangams (Academies), Madurai was the capital of the Pandyan empire till the 14th century AD.
 Mandawa

Mandawa is a magnificent castle set in the heart of the desert. Ceremonial chariots and carriages adorn the central square of the fort as you arrive to the strumming of drums. Nearby is the picturesque village of Shekhawati whose ancient houses are decorated with colourful frescoes.

 Mount Abu

Situated on an isolated plateau about 4000 feet above sea level, Abu combines the pleasures of a hill resort with the interests of an archaeological excursion. High up in the steep valleys are five Jain shrines, famous for ornamental skill in intricate stone work and as pieces of great architectural virtuosity.

 Orcha

Charming medieval township built upon the banks of the pretty Betwa river. Built by the Bundela Rajputs it has a fortress with some exquisite palaces. Most noteworthy is the 17th century Jahangir Mahal. The Laxmi Temple shows fine examples of Bundela art.

 Ooty

Also called ' Udhagamandalam', Ooty is the ' Queen of the Hill Stations', situated at an altitude of 7500 ft. Splendid green downs, lofty hills of extraordinary scenic beauty and a pleasant English summer climate make a perfect vacation.
