Palace on Wheels – Luxury Train Tour
This is the first luxury train launched in India in the year 1982 to take you to an exciting fairytale journey through Rajasthan. The itinerary takes you to Imperial cities Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Udaipur. Besides these places, you also get an opportunity to spot tiger in Ranthambore National Park and visit the world famous Taj Mahal in Agra. The train consists of 14 saloons and Each Saloon has four cabins en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, services of an attendant and a captain. The train facilities include bar lounges and libraries as well as two restaurant cars serving both Indian and world cuisine. With its ethnic interior and royal hospitality, it recreates an ambience of a bygone Rajputana era.

Your lifetime journey on the Palace on Wheels starts from the Delhi Cant. Railway Station at 17.45 hrs, where the guests are accorded with a warm, traditional welcome. Dinner is served onboard at 20.00 hrs and you are on the way to Jaipur. Stay overnight on board.

Elephants and a Shehnai recitation greet you on your arrival at the pink city of Jaipur. In Jaipur you visit Hawa Mahal, the Jantar Mantar (the largest observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh), Nahargarh fort, Amber fort and many more places. You return to Palace on Wheels around 18.30 hrs where the dinner awaits you onboard. Train leaves for Jaisalmer. Stay overnight on board. Stay overnight on board.

Jaisalmer is one of the popular tourist destinations of Rajasthan. The city is famous for its golden fort made of yellow sandstones. The Patwon ki haveli and Nathmalji ki haveli are the finest examples of the sculptor’s skills. The sand dunes outside Jaisalmer provide you an excellent place for a camel ride. After lunch on board you can enjoy a camel safari in the sand dunes. Dinner on the sand dunes under the moonlit sky is another highlight of your visit. You can enjoy the cultural programs at a hotel in Jaisalmer and then return to the Palace on Wheels and the train then leaves for Jodhpur at night. Stay overnight on board.

Next morning the Palace on Wheels reaches Jodhpur, the second largest city of Rajasthan fortified by a high stonewall with seven gates and several fortresses. The famous tourist spots here include Mehrangarh Fort, Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana. After visit of Jodhpur, return to the Palace on Wheels. The train leaves for Sawai Madhopur. Stay overnight on board.

Sawai Madhopur is famous for Ranthambore National Park, one of the most famous national parks of India. Here you can enjoy a safari ride to explore a variety of wildlife including tigers, chital, deer, monkeys and many more . After that you return to Palace on Wheels and leave for Chittorgarh which is known as the city of bravery and romance. The 7th century Chittorgarh Fort, has witnessed many wars fought over to protect the dignity and respect of the beautiful queen, Padmini. Other attractions here include Vijay Stambh (Tower of Victory) and the Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame). After visiting Chittorgarh, you return to Palace on Wheels and it leaves for Udaipur. Stay overnight on board.

You reach Udaipur, the city of lakes next day and take a tour to the palaces, forts and temples of Udaipur. It was founded by Maharana Udai Singh of Mewar, after the Sisodia dynasty was driven away by the Mughals, in 1559 A.D. Perhaps the two most beautiful sites of Udaipur are the dream-like marble Palaces-the Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) and the Jag Mandir, which appear to rise from the blue waters of Lake Pichhola. After visit of Udaipur, return to Palace on Wheels which gets ready to leave for Bharatpur. Stay overnight on board.

The Palace on Wheels arrives in Bharatpur in the early hours of the day. After breakfast, you are set to visit the world 
famous Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary also famous as Keoladeo Ghana National Park. You can see here many varieties of birds including the rare migratory birds like Siberian cranes. The same day you arrive at Fatehpur Sikri here you can visit a mosque built by the Mughal emperor Akbar, dedicated to Sheikh Salim Chishti, a Muslim Sufi saint. After that you have lunch at a hotel in Agra and visit the wonderful Taj Mahal, constructed by Shah Jahan, as a symbol of love for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Our cost normally includes hotel accommodation with breakfast, private air-conditioned car with driver which includes fuel, parking and all taxes, entrance fee to monuments, train tickets if any, guided city tours in English or in other foreign languages, viz French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Russian or other foreign languages subject to availability which we can notify at the time of reservation request. Our cost also includes some other services viz Elephant ride at Amer fort in Jaipur, camel safari in Jaisalmer and boat tour in Varanasi. Last hotel in Dehli 4 for room and bathroom also here glass wall between bathroom and the bed but the light didn’t across;
we suggest, personal opinion, to cancel the hotel with a rank less than 3 and choose others of superior quality ( also if more expensive) because the hotel is important to rest in a daily tour step by step.
In summary we evaluate very good the experience of our first trip in India and surely we will recommend State Express to our friends.

I’d like to just comment on one thing… please encourage clients to do Chittorgarh as a day trip. The accommodation there must’ve been really good at some point but is quite run down now. They were lovely and very obliging but when we compare the accommodations it wasn’t the best.
I know I’d said I wanted a night in Chittorgarh but I wasn’t as conversant with availability there as someone who knows the areas more.

Emily and I are home now, and we would like to thank you for organising what turned out to be a wonderful trip. We enjoyed visiting all the various places, and the hotels were comfortable. People were very friendly and helpful. The pace of the trip was perfect, travelling but not exhausting. The driver Chandra was very good and I would have no issue with recommending him as a driver. He was very polite, punctual, and courteous. We felt he was a very safe driver, and would like to extend our thanks to him as well. With the benefit of hindsight, I would have stayed an extra day or two in Verkala rather than the extra days in Mumbai, but that is as I say with the benefit of hindsight. Once again, thank you so very much for all your help in organising this trip for us, which we will remember fondly for many years to come.
To whom it may concern, we are writing you regarding the package booked with andanitravel for the India golden triangle from the 01/03/2020 to the 11/03/2020. On the 4th of March ’20 the staff from the Sher Gary Resort in Road Village Sherpur, Khilchipur, Rajasthan 322001, Ranthanbore, following the Advise from the Government of Rajasthan, invited us to leave the resort and the State of India as soon as possible due to our Italian Nationality. Immediately we contacted the DCM Italy of Rajasthan, Mr Carini, who told us there was a mistake and the Advise number 27 of the 4th of March 2020 was withdrawn with immediate effect. Although we informed on a timely manner the resort staff, we have been asked to leave anyhow. Only after the DCM Italy informed the resort about the mistake, we have been given the opportunity to leave the resort the following morning. All these difficulties, the constant hostility by the people in India despite the advise number 28, the decision made by the State Express emergency contact( Harish Bhatt) to interrupt our trip and the news regarding the spread of COVID-19 in India, induced us to arrange autonomously for a flight back home as soon as possible. At least but not last we kindly ask you to let us know of any official way to provide a positive feedback to the great support, empathy, help, kindness, professionalism, flexibility and special assistant given by the driver Mr Ashok Yadav in the sphere of his competences.
